Kangaroo, yes some Cambodians are better off, but not the majority. You still have a regime that uses the country's natural resources as its personal bank account, steals land from the urban and rural poor, allows foreign pharmaceutical companies to dump their poisonous "medicines" which aren't allowed in developed countries on the unsuspecting poor resulting in a "silent genocide". Public dissent against the ruling party can result in death. Over half of the CPP cabinet are ex Khmer Rouge cadre' who some say went over and above just "following orders" resulting in fear amongst the people to speak out against the "three" brothers; Samrin, Sim and Sen. Don't get me started on the NGO's that enable Hun Sen. I could go on and on. Look, every country has its challenges but when there's no accountability from the CPP and the Canadian government on how MY tax dollars are spent even resulting in more oppression on Cambodia's people its just criminal. Building a few schools and hospitals is just "window dressing" to hide the fact that western nations donations are merely "bribes" to let western interests exploit Cambodia's natural resources and her people.
