F-24 MkI Ama Deus
Tom,
Linda and I did a fair bit of trial mob recovery when we first got our F27.
I weigh a svelt 260 and with all my old gear on and wet came in at over 300 pounds. We found that the boarding ladder was useless because the lowest step was too high to get a cold exhausted leg onto it and have enough strength to hoist myself up the ladder. This is the main reason I sail in the drisuit.
We rigged a block to the aft port lifting eye and have a snatch block available to go to the port "D" fitting on the cap shrouds. My PFD has an integral harness and "D" rings that a retrieval line can be led to. We found that with the PFD inflated you can't snap a Carbiner to both the "D"s and as one alone won't hold, I wear the carbiner. The line goes from the ST40 cabin winch thru the lead block(prevents an override) to the snatch block and the eye goes to the carbiner. Linda loads the winch and lands the whale. Yes, it hurts comming over the ama flange but it allows her to get me into the boat without endangering herself.
Is your tether long enough to allow you to get to the ama? And can you get to the ama? If not, I bet you will not get back on board.
Just a thought.
