Subject: Re: Ladder for F-Boats deployed from MOB

Once, many years ago I owned a Cal-20 which I berthed in the estuary near
Alimeda Ca. In the summer we would anchor out and let the kids jump off the
bow with a small life ring in their hands. By the time you count to three,
they were at the stern, waiting to be picked up with their hands over their
heads. Looked like a lot of fun so I jumped in. The water was as smooth as a
pond but with a current running. I couldn't get out. Everytime I tried, my
knees slid under the boat. It started to get serious. I had my wife use the
jib sheet and tie a bowline in the end to be used as a steerup.  The next
day I was at Sears buying a boarding ladder. I look back now and realize how
lucky we were. Dumb thing to do.
