I'm answering this Email while at sea traveling at 22 knots on the
Caribbean Princess on the way to St. Thomas.
I find sailing at night completely different then day sailig. Once I
was sailing in waters I thought I knew well....during the day but at
night things look different. There was a light I was looking for that
was low on the horizon that during the day you couldn't see if you
were more then 2 miles away. At night I still couldn't see it,
however the glow in the sky allowed me to identify it by timing the
seconds between flashes. Sailing on the wrong side of that light
would have caused me to run aground.
