The existence of power is a constant. The use of power and abuse of power is what we all need to fight against. I hope that anytime I get out of line, I get called on the carpet. You've done that a few times. So has Lou Franklin. I'm indebted to both of you for keeping on things like that. Any abuse of power must be confronted and fixed. That's why I'm supporting the Arbitration Board idea on the wiki.

Chad, Thank you for the clarification. Here is an excellent point for discussion (the type of point that the constant Foucault references are trying to point out--points lost by some, such as Janet Hawkin, who demonize, without engaging an intellectual argument). The point (a non-partisan point) is how technology itself is an issue laden with power-dynamics, some subtle, some overt. In the business world, Bill Gates was able to put the most attractive set of software together, and so by extension, now wields considerable world power as a result. Fortunately (for all of us), Gates is a humanitarian of the highest caliber ( i.e. Gates Foundation helping orphans, the sick & dying in Africa, etc.), so a benevolent on-line Emperor do we now have . . .
More a bit later . . .
