Absolutely!  A few years ago we were on the K&A in a heatwave and made the 
decision to start at 5.00 and made it onto the Thames by lunch time and onto 
the moorings outside Tesco under the trees.  It was lovely at time of the 
morning, nice and sunny with the mist burning off the fields and just hanging 
on the canal.  Watching all those sweating away boating past us!

So what's the problem
In this weather (hot) leave at 0530 boat till 12 find a shady spot to 
moor.
Enjoy watching all the others pass, sweating in the heat, whilst you 
are having a beer.
Sounds sensible to me
