Having done ¾ m miles in a diesel van (white as it happens) over the last
15 years I’ve been checked once by customs. I’ve reported one regular user
of red diesel (and cooking oil, paraffin and anything else he can lay his
hands on) in a car with no result whatever. Who will take odds that
eventually there’s a lot more boat than car checking done (in proportion to
the relative numbers of each) much easier than road stops, all you need is a
bridge, lock or junction. And by the way what happens to red diesel already
in tanks?
