On Tuesday evening the Severn was the highest I have seen it so far, being just above the coping stones on the entrance to the wide lock. The floating pontoons still had about 8 feet of steel pole above them, which equate more or less with flooding of the cottages opposite the Tontine Hotel.
Flow speed was, I reckon, in excess of 6mph. There was water in the newly refurbed Lichfield Street basin, for the first time. And I don't mean rain, it's all filled up and waiting for some property developer to get stuck in to the construction job. Not much prospect of many boats mooring in there, I'm not sure who will "own" the moorings or how many there will be but really it's more about the waterside ambience than boating.
