It occurs to me that users of mail clients such as Outlook (and OE) who
aren't running quote-fix or something similar won't actually see the  
quotes
('>' characters) that George prefixed 'Statement #1' and 'Statement #2'
with, or indeed the quote characters that my own mail client has  
inserted
into this response, and will blindly assume that just inserting  
responses
into the original text is the recommended approach. A number of  
contributors
to this list are "guilty" of doing this, but I suspect it is out of  
sheer
ignorance of this issue.

Not being an Outlook or Outlook Express user I can't offer definitive
advice on configuration or where to get quote-fix and how to apply it,
but there are plenty of folks around here who can. I suspect there are
some users of mobile mail clients who are also similarly affected  
(naming
no names :-)

If you can't see any '>' characters (or substitute indicator inserted by
your mail client) in the block of text I quoted from George above  
(one or
two prefixing every line), you need to seek help...
