The Ohio and Erie Canal is navigable by canoe and Kayak from the Cleveland OH
Flats to Valley View OH where one could transfer to a train to Akron OH were
you pick up the canal again by way of the Portage Lakes and paddles the river
system down to the Ohio.
There are 3 working locks in the system 1 in Valley view and the other 2 in
Canal Fulton

Smethwick Galton Bridge station probably wins the prize for closest to
the canal. 40 foot vertical drop from the platforms to the BCN New main
line.
