There is no slippery slope here. Smoking needs to be treated differently to issues like alcohol because no matter how much alcohol anyone else has I won't end up drunk. I can't wait for 1st July because lots of things I want to be able to do (like enjoy assorted social gatherings from pubs to concert halls) will become available to me without me becoming nauseous and smelling disgusting. At present I have to weigh up whether I want to do something enough to put up with the discomfort. Sadly, some smokers fail to recognise just how restrictive and unpleasant it can be for the rest of us. Don't my civil liberties matter as well? Steve NB Bream
