If you don't eat the peanuts it won't affect you, even if they are inches 
away.  The rapeseed pollen may smell a bit, but AFAIK it won't shorten your 
life.  Smoke in buildings *will* affect a significant amount of non-smokers 
(me included - sets off my asthma)
