My Josher will achieve 3.5mph flat out where there is plenty of water and more like 2.5 in most cases. I wouldn't contemplate passing any moored boat at that speed as I'd leave them all in the middle of the cut. I guess its about size of boat and displacement. On my Mum's boat (45ft) 4mph is easily achieved, even on the summit of the Caldon ;-) Steve NB Bream (and occasionally Endon Wildrose)
