The lock is only long enough for around 63 feet, and at that diagonally 
- I think it's actually 55 foot long.

Everything over length can only pass through when the tide makes a 
level. Ironically, this year's exceptional rainfall meant that so much 
fresh was coming down the Hundred Foot, the window was much longer than 
usual, and in fact in Sanity we made the crossing on a level both ways, 
despite having pre-booked conventional locking slots. (Much better, 
working diagonally in Salter's is a nightmare due to the bottom gate 
walkways which overhang the chamber something savage)
