A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I had had a skin complaint that had flared up during the summer so that I eventually had to cut short the holiday and go home. It started to get better so we went back to the boat for a few days and had to return home within 24 hours as the problem recurred. This happened several times and I've been taking antibiotics and anointing myself for months now. Last night on the bbc news it was reported that some people were suing Argos as their leather sofas were causing skin complaints.
Eureka! I said all along that it felt like a chemical burn. New leather chairs just before Christmas - sitting for hours at Stourport waiting for the rain to stop, reading books - not travelling as much as usual due to rainy weather (not in a rush, so why get wet?) - then as itchy skin began to drive me mad, sitting on cool leather chair with skin exposed to the air. Last weekend we bought some fleece throws to cover my chair and the settees, so it wasn't quite so bad. Anyone else had a problem with leather furniture, either on the boat or at home? I know lots of people have leather armchairs in their boats, as it was seeing them in several other boats that made us want to get some as they look (and are) so comfortable to sit on - unless they burn you of course!
