I really don't know how you can make this statement when, as you are aware, a very major (if not the most significant) cost these days is the disposal of the dredgings. The disposal is charged per cubic metre of dredgings (after chemical analysis, if required), therefore the more you remove the more you pay. If the dredgings are considered contaminated (BCN arm dredgings for example) then the disposal charges will rise astronomically due to the hazardous waste regulations. Roger
