I have recently noticed that all the time I am connected to the net, before I have opened a web browser or email prog, that I am uploading and downloading a vast amount, by mobile broadband terms at least.
I use a network monitor which shows me the upload and download speeds, and also what is using the MBs. It turned out that a prog called Kservice.exe was the culprit and a bit of Googling told the tale as to what it was and from whence it came. I uninstalled Iplayer and the unauthorized up and downloading stopped instantly. There are more users besides Iplayer, Sky for instance, so if you are on broadband, mobile or terrestrial, it might pay to take a quick look in Google to see if you are using any of them. I feel that the BBC have been nicking my bandwidth but I suspect that I agreed to it when I signed up for Iplayer, but that doesn't make me feel any better.
