In that case Roger let me warn you that there is not a single stretch of the 
canal system where there has not been trouble at some time, including Skipton 
where as you know I experienced it myself. That knowledge is valuable? It's 
valueless IMO. Better just to use common sense. And if something happens report 
it to the appropriate authorities, not this list where serious damage may be 
done to a local economy.

I disagree Steve, having knowledge of an area that has been known to have 
problems in the past allows you to use your judgement when you arrive there to 
use a balance of past risk v present assessment to decide whether you want to 
chance it or not. It would not be very nice to suffer a nasty incident only to 
be told later "Oh, I could have warned you about that place but I didn't 
because I didn't want to stigmatise the place"
Knowledge is power and allows considered personal choices in all things.
