I'm sure you will appreciate that, after looking in vain in the pouring
rain at the wrong location last night, phoning BW first thing this
morning to try and find out exactly where and what the problem is and
then going out to take photos and find out more about what had happened,
it was a little irritating to be accused of not providing any kind of
information.

I still haven't received a stoppage alert about this from Waterscape.
Has anyone else?

Hi Martin .. sorry about your unsuccessful wet search for the stoppage. I just
passed on the information I was told by the Leeds office.

They have put up the notice now

Stoppage: Lock 14 East - Huddersfield Narrow Canal

Associated Regional Office: BW Yorkshire

Due to a breach of the ground paddle culvert and leakage through the lock wall,
into neighbouring factory buildings at Lock 14E, the Huddersfield Narrow Canal
will be closed from Lock 1E to Lock 21E for approximately 10 weeks. This is
because the pound above the lock has been drawn down to stem the flooding.

Currently, engineers are investigating the problem and are hoping to issue an
update on Wednesday 9th September, which will explain our findings and proposed
plan.

Boats will be unable to pass through Standedge Tunnel due to this stoppage and
shortage of moorings between the tunnel and the affected area, any boat
attempting to get back to moorings through the tunnel is advised to seek an
alternative route. We apologise for the inconvenience caused
