Our late Raaske & van der Meyer bog used to quite regularly seize on a solid jobbie (usually one of the wife's little cannon-balls). As dismantling it was slow and messy, I tried reversing the connections to the whole system. The motor did not run backwards, but something always gave a satisfyingly loud clunk. Nine times out of ten, restoring the polarity to normal resulted in a clearance. Some of the more modern bogs seem to have complex control systems and it might fry the electronics.
