Steve asked " Does any one know if a quick burst of reverse polarity on a
macerator motor would spin it the other way? "

I've never done it myself but was given that advice as a sure fire way of
clearing a macerator when I telephoned the Black Prince support line after our
first blockage during our early days of owning Jannock.

After a complete dismantle of the unit when it blocked during 2002 on the
Llangollen (Queens jubilee holiday and I spent most of the day overhauling the
throne) I worked out a technique that allows me to unblock said macerator
without taking anything apart. Behind the bowl on our Tecma unit there is a
large U shaped rubber pipe that connects the bowl to the pump. If this is given
a few hard squeezes, like operating a rubber bulb to inflate a blood pressure
armband, then the macerator usually unblocks and bursts into life again.
Ensure you turn the flushing water supply off if the bowl is getting near full,
it prevents it from overflowing whilst you are trying to get the motor to work.

There, that cleared the air a bit ;^)
