Telford was also the general agent - his job includinghanding the written
publicity for the Llangollen - a side that Jessop had no interest in. His
handouts for the opening of the aqueduct are very revealing. Read also his
comments on the completed 2nd Harecastle tunnel he built to see how much he
thought of his work and how he was willing to tell the world how good he
thought it was.

Having read the Hadfield book my money is on Jessop.  He had previous
experience on iron, through the Butterly Company, Telford had none.  It's a
while since I read the book but I seem to remember that most of the 'facts'
about Telford come from a biography written by his supporters.

PS He also engineered the Slea!

(*) or Jessop's. Take your pick. And your stonemason's chisel, mallet, trowel...
