Technically St. Pancs is on the Regents Canal and I understood the OP wanted southern end of the GU but no further south than Norwood Top Lock. I would always recommend anyone to ensure their security is as good as it can be, especially when leaving a boat unattended in an urban or city environment. Most people are fine but sometimes you can get unlucky and sadly these days I come across far to many so called "boaters" who steal from boaters. Warning out of the way my stopping places of choice would be above Uxbridge Lock before you get to the long term moorings or even Brown's Meadow visitor moorings if my boat has good security measures. There's lots of nice people moored at Browns Meadow and actually a very similar crowd to those around Dolphin Bridge and the General Elliot. If there's room then either Cowley North or South Visitor moorings are fine if you can find a space. I wouldn't go much further south as the next good mooring at Bulls Bridge Tescos is 24 hr only although I do know people who have happily moored outside or just north of the Grand Junction Arms off North Hyde Road without any problems for up to two weeks. Next stopping point would be below Hanwell near the Fox and then off course Brentford Gauging Lock. Worth a detour is High Line at Iver on the Slough Arm if booked in advance or Packet Boat Marina just near the Waters Edge below Cowley Lock. They definitely have a couple berths for visitors at the moment. Also worth a detour onto the Paddington Arm but not too far. There's a warm welcome at Willowtree Marina or again try Highline at Northolt. Greenford visitor moorings are currently out of action whilst work is being carried out on the towpath. Hope this helps, Debbi who just happens to work on the cut in London.
