Apologies for the somewhat urgent nature of this message, but we (Chesterfield Canal Trust - I've got my 'official' hat on, Arthur) want to try and contact anyone that's planning on coming to the canal festival at Worksop next weekend (17th / 18th July).
BW are looking to do some urgent maintenance on Whitsunday Pie lock (the last broad lock before Retford if that helps anyone get their bearings). The initial plan is to do some prep work over the weekend and complete the repairs on Monday / Tuesday of next week. The plan will be put on hold if there are boats travelling to the Festival that will be inconvenienced by this work, or if the necessary bits can't be got to site in time. In the meantime, we understand that the pump at Retford which lifts water out of the Idle will be left running to provide sufficient water. We'll be reporting back to BW early tomorrow morning, so any input from this list really needs to be in today. Thanks in advance
