Hello > I know your Telepath Project that starts 1995 from the University > Basel webpage. There is NO! :-( info that its now under GPL and Open > Source. Update?
OK, iPath is a completely new project. The version from 1995 was proprietary and closed in by a company. I actually started my work in Basel in 1999 with the mission to get that project going again. However, we decided to start a new and produce a completely new and open source project which in 2001 was finally released as iPath. > I was not aware about this project at SF. I was thinking about that, too. But it would need some careful planning first. What are your ideas of integrating ipath into care2x? I am not sure if we are thinking of the same. I was planning to have some sort of inter-server connectivity in iPath (xmlrpc) which would allow referrals to (virtual) specialist groups. Ideally such a referral could be initiated simply from your hospital system (care2x). iPath is sepcilised in enabling collaboration of a group of specialists. It is currently used for some "virtual pathology department" servicing e.g. hospitals in Solomon Islands, Cambodia etc .... The reasond for having to have this on a seperated server is usually security/firewalls. So, ideally, you could refer from care2x to iPath without revealing the identity of the patient, while still ensure that comments and diagnosis can be traced back to that very patient. At FOSSFA, we are actually thinking of including some additional services into care2x: - telemed referrals - virtual libraries (access to pubmed, etc) The idea would be that a number of hospitals equiped with care2x integrate into a network (maybe even including national DoHs) Any suggestions in this direction are very welcome! > Supporting yes, but not do this work like packaging, keeping a view to > every update and security of third parties and so on... looking > through every file of all these projects is not possible. OK, true. Maybe I was a bit too naive here. But let's see how care2x is developing here in Africa ... maybe we'll be able to do it in our team at FOSSFA. regards -- ---------------------------------------------------------------- Kurt Brauchli-Haase Telemedicine Unit, University of Transkei Umtata, South Africa tel: +27 47 502 2914 ---------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- SF.Net is sponsored by: Speed Start Your Linux Apps Now.
