Hello Paul,

Yes I believe you need to integrate the phpCAS into your application. As soon as you have done that the flow will be like - User comes to your application in which phpCAS is embedded, it redirects it to the CAS login form - User enters his/her credenitals there and login is done at that form and user is redirected back to you app (If user is already logged in, user will not have to enter credentials and will be redirected back) - After you have redirected back, you can access php session and phpCAS globals for array of info about logged in user like logged in user and much more.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi Frosina

Sorry I didn't get back sooner been out of the office. I have CAS working with
Moodle now, but have a few more questions for you and everybody else.

Although the CAS server login works its not how I see it working from an
external point of view. We have a website and people will login using CAS via
this website. Once they are authenticated they get to access their dashboard
in the external website. From here they will have a link to Moodle. At this
point we need the user to click the hyperlink to Moodle and be logged in.

I assume that we will need to develop something using phpCas, but I am not sure

I think the issues is the fact that this link, will actually be a list of their
courses in a small block. This means that the moment the user logs in to their
dashboard on the website, the single sign on using CAS will have to be
initiated.

If it were just a link then once clicked the user would be logged in to CAS and
therefore get logged in to Moodle automatically, I think, is this the way it
works?

Any help out there would be great

Many thanks
Paul

Subject: Re: [cas-user] Moodle CAS& Spring

Hi Paul, finally someone who is using CAS and moodle:) I have been also working
on CAS+Moodle+Drupal, but i notice that the CAS plugin in moodle is made to
work only with LDAP server.
I've made a system like Moodle&Drupal having SingleSignOn/Off using CAS and
LDAP server, and this is working just fine.
I also try to make a Moodle&Drupal having SingleSignOn/Off using CAS and an
External DB, this is not working unfortunately since moodle makes LDAP mapping and
i can't make ExternalDB mapping. Do you have any idea how can i make this thing
work?

For your problem, i'm not sure that i can help but i will try.
Can you check (do you have access to) the Tomcat server logs for the CAS app?
There you can see bether what is going on. Also check the ldap server logs.

Hi

Very new to CAS so please be kind to me, however I am an old hat at
Moodle

We are attempting to authenticate using CAS in Moodle. This I hope is
fairly easy but would like to know if there is any information with
regards to this. Our initial problem is that our architecture
department thing we are the enemy and thus will not provide us with any
information.

We do now have a dev CAS server address, which when used with Moodle
seems to work as far as it says that the application isn't allowed to
use the CAS server. However, when we navigate away from the CAS page
it tells us that we have successfully logged out of CAS.

Am I right in assuming that as a network user CAS appears to be
authenticating my network credentials and seems to be logging me in as
a user (user level), but is rejecting us at an application level. I
think this is happening because it logs me out of CAS when I attempt
to navigate away from CAS.

How does one tell CAS to allow our application Moodle?

Just for some more info, we intend to use CAS with Ldap to pre-fill
Moodle profile fields.

We also intend to use CAS to authenticate Moodle users through an
external website but I am currently unsure how this works

SO maybe some more questions on this J

Thanks

Paul
