Thanks for think about me. The halyard is the correct size 5/16. I think that somewhere the way the old white plastic sheaves needed to be replaced and someone just used what they could find that day or something.
I did have that "bend around pulleys" problem with the mainsheet. It was replaces with low stretch something and was rather stiff and would not "run" through pulleys well.
