I can confirm this is an usual group of people...hey, you're racing a 30 year old cruising design...and probably the most fun of any of the OD fleets around, usualy the group voted "favorite one design fleet" by the local sailing press and/or the Race Committees. The 105 fleet is starting to be a bit more friendly mainly due to crew being swapped back and forth on a bunch of boats...that's the best way, in my opinion, to cement group unity because when someone does some dumbass move and incurs the rath of another owner/driver, it's nice when someone in the crew says, "hey my buddy so-and-so races on that boat and he says the owner is a good guy." etc etc.
anyway, you will be gauranteed a great time if ya make the trip...unless Charlie Scott switches from a J35 to a Catalina27 and T-bones you first race and ruins your regatta... happened to a boat from Newport first day of the J35 NAC. tf > You would have to take the bow sprit off the tall rig to make it conform. > By > no means am I saying don't come to the event, but just trying to tell you > that the local fleet is rather stringent about measuring. > > And the unlimited access to the trailer doesn't mean you won't have to > deal > with the state restrictions about the WIDTH of the load from there to > here. > > Again we would love to have you but my experience is the hassle factor > would > be a lot more limited if you just came up sans boat and played with us. > > On the other hand if you think you can come up with a "new" boat and beat > the guys that have really figured out how to make these tubs go "fast" we > would > love to have the new blood. > > And please understand that I am not among those that are considered > anything > but a number in the scoring.
