Bulkhead Replacement A couple of years ago, as I bought my Catalina 27 Tall Rig, SEA-130, the surveyor found that he could easily push a pencil into both dryrotted bulkheads. Egads! My solution, for a $1400 bill, was to have the local Marina remove both bulkheads, and "kerf" in 3/4" marine plywood, sandwiched between two "kerfed" 1/4" aluminum sheets, then painted. Now, them chainplates will certainly handle anything that's thrown their way. Expensive, yes, but worth the security I paid for. Jim Huhta Sturgeon Bay, WI.
