This was obviously before either Peter or I came to the fleet and I, for
one, was unaware of any split.

Hi Peter,

Being a Q&R professional it is always a problem when you duplicate the
numbers from a standard rather than reference the standard.

Actually Fleet 8 struck off on their own for a while and had a different
numbers, and were not actually racing one-design. I pushed through a ballot
measure a few years ago to synchronize the standards on the understanding that
Fleet 8 would stop using their own.

The ballot measure passed but it sounds like the Fleet 8 Bylaws were never
changed so they referenced the ODA standard rather than duplicate it implying
they intent to maintain local control and therefore could stop racing to the
ODA rules at their whim.

Phil

Don't be an old coot, the fleet bylaws use the IC27 numbers, or else it
wouldn't be one design, would it?

from the IC27/270A By-Laws: Spinnaker (any type)- Leech & Luff 34' 2.5",
Girth 20'3"

Mike,

YRA SF will not be using Fleet 8 documentation when you go racing. Once you
enter a race not conducted by Fleet 8 the IC27/270A one-design class rules
apply.

Thank you, Chris!

Appreciate the quick response. Trying to be a bit more competitive in our
beer can series. Maybe some down bay stuff too.
