Who sez? I don't buy it Ive had too many engineer friends to buy it, and I don't struggle with James Joyce because I don't read Finnagin's Wake. Don't like it, don't see why I should put up with it . My best friend in college was a super engineering student and played Bach like an angel. When we in the music school were going to sleep, the enginering students were just halfway through their studies.

Why the hell are we talking about this? I'll say it again: tf has deflected us from the issue. Talk in his behalf all you want. Who could stop you? Who'd want to? I just asked tf to be accurate. His response made me think I'd screwed up my grammar. I didn't expect ill will. There, I'll admit, I was stupid, indeed. Plenty of warning.

I'm an engineer, which by definition makes me functionally illiterate,
but I started getting lost in the sentence after the 4th comma and the
second "in fact". Then again, I also struggle with James Joyce.

Tim,

You need to read better. I said the top speed of winds that I sailed in was 15 knots. I've checked my grammar, and that's what I said. I'm not immune to gramatical error, despite my PhD in English and my 35 years of college teaching. But I try to be careful..
