It can be powered by a 6 hp, but don't count on going to weather too efficiently. Honestly if it is really blowing you will be better off sailing unless you have the 9.9 or 15 (usually basically the same weight and price with only a different carb). But even with the larger power plant you won't be able to motor much above 6kts. Once again though welcome to the group. And please tell us where you are and your hull number.
