I repowered my boat several years ago and could not find ANY 9.9 that would fit. My cutout had already been enlarged for the 1982 Evinrude 15 (essentially a 9.9 with electric start), but sill nothing came close. I ended up with a Nissan 9.9 and still had to modify the engine cover to fit in the cutout. I think you are going to have a really tough time finding any engine that will fit without modifying the cutout and the engine cover.
