I used to race on another boat many years ago. I was the navigator/tactician. We had some success. I was able to attend a lecture by Tom Whidden who, as navigator/tactician on board Stars and Stripes had just won the AC. He was talking about boat potential and the subject of using a boat's polars came into the mix. His reaction was that on a winning AC boat they reach 100% about 10% of the time! If you sail the boat to match polars you will not win many races. He did say that the pro sailors sail to maybe 95% potential.

Having targets and constantly trying to sail to them is vital toward getting to that mythical 100/100 quotient....something only Terry Hutchinson seems capable of doing, these days.... __________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 3615 (20081115) __________ The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus. http://www.eset.com
