SANDHILL CRANE BALD EAGLE MISSISSIPPI KITE (Extralimital) RED-HEADED WOODPECKER YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER PROTHONOTARY WARBLER LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSH YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT CLAY-COLORED SPARROW Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and Montezuma Wetlands Complex (MWC) ------------ 6/16: The SANDHILL CRANE Family, 2 adults and 2 young, were observed on Carncross Road. Oswego County ------------ 6/18: A PROTHONOTARY WARBLER was found at the end of Toad Harbor Road along the first small inlet. 6/16: Strong south winds produced a late raptor flight at Derby Hill. Eight species were seen including an amazing 46 BALD EAGLES. Also seen was a very rare for Region 5 YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT. Madison County ------------ 6/21: A SANDHILL CRANE was spotted landing in a field on Ditcbank Road north of Chittenango. Onondaga County ------------ 6/15: A pair of LOUISIANA WATERTHRUSHES was seen along Nine Mille Creek north of Marcellus. A CLAY-COLORED SPARROW which had been found on 6/7 on Kellog Road in the Three Rivers WMA was heard but has not been found since. 6/19: A RED-HEADED WOODPECKER continues in a swamp on Fenner Road west of Baldwinsville. Herkimer County ------------- 6/21: A YELLOW-BELLIED FLYCATCHER was found along Third Lake Creek Trail near Old Forge along with many of the resident Warblers. Extralimital ------------ As of 6/20 the pair of MISSISSIPPI KITES are still present near Donato and Mapleton Roads in Montgomery County south of Canajoharie.
