2019

Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge (MNWR) and and Montezuma Wetlands Complex 
(MWC)

     4/8: A GLOSSY IBIS found in the Marsh south of Carncross Road is still 
present today.

     4/10: A female RUFF or REEVE was seen on Carncross Road.  It had not been 
seen during the week but reappeared again today.

     4/11: A LEAST BITTERN was heard at Carncross Road.

     4/12: A GREAT EGRET was seen in the main pool along the Wildlife Drive. An 
EURASIAN WIGEON was seen in Knox-Marsellus Pool from East Road.







Derby Hill Bird Observatory

     In a week of changing weather conditions Derby went from a day with 4,337 
raptors to another with only 137. In all 9,258 raptors were counted. The first 
BROADWING HAWKS were seen on 4/12. Other highlights were NORTHERN GOSHAWK, 
GOLDEN EAGLE, COMMON REDPOLLS, PINE SISKIN, SANDHILL CRANE, ICELAND GULL, 
BLUE-GRAY GNATCATCHER and GREAT EGRET.







Oswego County

------------




     4/9: 12 EVENING GROSBEAKS were seen at a feeder in Willianstown. Two were 
seen at the same location on 4/11.







Onondaga County

------------




     4/9: A SANDHILL CRANE was seen at Oneida Shores Park.

     4/14: A PEREGRINE FALCON was seen from Marble Street Island in 
Baldwinsville.







Madison County

------------




     EVENING GROSBEAKS persist at feeders on Carpenter Road in Sheds and on 
Eden Hollow Road near Erieville.

     4/13: A LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL was seen on Ditchbank Road north of 
Canastota.







Herkimer county

------------




     EVENING GROSBEAKS persist at a feeder on Military Road north of Dolgeville.
