Hi Ted,

Nice to see that I'm not alone out there with my questions :o)) I hope that
a "NAT-Guru" could give us clarification.

So, all the NAT-Experts out there, can you explain the real difference
between the "old style" and the "new-style" NAT with NVI? When to prefer
which solution?

Thanks to all in advance

Roger

Hi Roger,

I'm also pretty curious about this one. Honestly, I've only used "ip nat
inside/outside". I noticed "ip nat enable" used a lot for solutions. I'm
curious if there are any gotchas around this or reasons for using one over
the other.

Ted

Subject: Re: [OSL | CCIE_RS] IPEXPERT Lab 13 Section 2 General Nat question

Hi Louis,

I asked myself the same question, since I'm not very "NAT-experienced" :o)
Well, to me, the solution with the NVI is easier to configure. My problem
is, that for some questions, for example Task 13.21, still the old, "nat
inside..." command synthax is use.
So how can we differentiate, when to use which solution?

Regards

Roger

Hi all,

I was hoping someone can explain to me what would be
the deciding factor that led the PG to use the

"Configuring the NAT Virtual Interface" approach (see
hyperlink):

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_4/ip_addr/configuration/guide/ntbaddr
s.html#wp1084652

as opposed to the older method in the "Configuring the
Inside Source Addresses" section of the same hyperlink
