Access-lists...

Jowi,

Whenever you want to find the appropriate network and mask you will
perform a binary AND operation on the octet to find your network value
and an XOR operation to find the wildcard mask. It is also important
to remember that not every group of networks can be combined in a
single ACL statement.

Take a look at the thread here from earlier this month:

Access-lists...

Hi Bryan, (Further Clarity on the Access-list question.)

Using the indicated network address, maybe coming from the backbone
router. A question may come as follows:

110.20.21.1 255.255.255.0

110.20.22.1 255.255.255.0

110.20.23.1 255.255.255.0

110.20.24.1 255.255.255.0

110.20.25.1 255.255.255.0

110.20.25.1 255.255.255.0

        |

        V

110.20.85.1 255.255.255.0

a) There are sometimes questions about matching even or odd
routes in the third octet routes.

b) In some cases you have questions on matching routes from 45 -
79 in the 3rd octed.

Now with the above questions examples, I need to know the approach and
the best way to approach this. I hope the question is much clearer.

Kind Regards,

Jowi Nkwe (JM)

Jowi,

I don't understand question #2, Can you explain in a little more
detail? Thanks,

Hey Jowi,

For HSRPv2 read:

I don't have a good document on your ACL question right now (or time
to
write an essay on it), so I'll leave that to someone else to respond
to.

Oh, I like your signature quotation BTW: it's very insightful.
