Off topic a bit from the OP's question, but I'm not sure how bad the
risk of restarting IOU devices really is. In my experience, L3 IOU
images are fairly stable. The L2 image I have seen is pretty sketchy
but hopefully they have a better version in the real lab.

One thing I've noticed with L3 IOU images is that you can silence
'duplex mismatch' CDP messages by putting 'duplex full' on the
interface, but that does not seem to survive a reboot.

IOU does sometimes need to have processes cleared to get things (like
OSPF) to settle out nicely.
