Hello all,
My we have a lot of moaning minnies on the forum of late.
So thought I’d pitch in my 2p worth (which is about 3 cents
to all you in the US!)
I personally like 8 hours slots (ok 7h 45 min). Not 4 hours lots, 8 hour.
IPExpert’s mission in life is to prepare us
for the real CCIE lab exam. It is 8
hours in length. Not offering (close to)
8 hour slots would be a failure in that mission. They would then be faced with
a mass of
complaints about how having only 4 hour slots is not a realistic representation
of the real lab.
You see their dilemma?
In the space of a few days, they have had people complain that 8 hours
are too long and then some turn around and complains about losing 15 minutes at
the end of the lab. They cannot cater
for everyone. So, their choice is to
give you as close possible to lab experience given the tidy up time.
When you all bought your BLSs or rack time, you ALL KNEW
what you were buying. Don’t turn around and
complain about it now.
For those of you that want 4 hour slots:
Use GNS, buy your own kit from EBay, borrow some pieces from
work, or use one of the many other vendors who offer smaller timeslots. You
have more options than IPExpert. Or, put two 4 hour slots back to back and use
an 8 hour session.
For those from Europe that have complained about the start
times, grow up. I’m in the UK, and 5
hours behind Proctor Labs start times.
My start times are 05:00, 13:00 or 21:00. I use 13:00 if I can, or 05:00 if I
must. All you lot east of here have an
extra one or two hours earlier in bed compared to me, yet you are still
complaining….
For those of you that want the 8h 15, I’m sorry, but 24 hrs
divided by 8 hours 15 does not end up in an whole number. If that 15 minutes
is so important to you,
then start your lab 15 minutes before your proctor labs session starts, for your
read through, your diagrams etc. Or
start it 30 minutes earlier if you need to.
Or do the layer 2 section by doing offline scripts in notepad that you
can merely paste into the switches to save time typing at the command
line. So many ways to save the 15 minutes.
Time keeping is part of the CCIE discipline, and this
teaches you some.
To bods at IPExpert/Protcor Labs: don’t listen! You have it right!
Regards, George.
