I'm not sure if it's been published anywhere readily accessible online, but
I was in the CCIE Lab Techtorial at Cisco Live US 2012 and in that, Bruno
van de Werve, product manager for the CCIE R&S lab exam, did state that the
dedicated frame relay switch was removed from the configuration topology.

As Marko stated, there certainly can be frame switching done on a router in
your pod. You may have back to back with or without LMI, and the TS portion
very well may have a full frame switch.

In my opinion, as someone who just passed the lab, it would be
*extremely*foolhardy to think that you don't need to know frame relay
topics cold
anymore. If you ignore or gloss over frame relay, enjoy your $1500 Coke.

I honestly thing the FR switch removal was little more than a cost-savings
move by Cisco, reducing the number of routers they need to operate,
maintain, and refresh for each lab pod.
