Last thing you want to do is remove something that is in place for a reason.  I 
presume
 it fits in the slot ok with the metal cover on?

If you have an R Chassis, you might be able to upgrade one Sup in the 
background with the other one running, but I haven’t played with a 4500 for a 
few years now so don’t try this in your production box or outside of a change 
window, I don’t think that saying some has-been on the internet told you try 
something will work too well with your boss if you break the network.
