Since ip cant be learnt through cdp(the above guide itself says so) the main reason of the cdp will be to give vlan id from switch... it only makes sense if voice vlan can be assigned by "swicth port voice vlan" and hence qos and security can be given specific to the cipc and not to the pc in general(even if some hacking software modifies the dscp codes of say torrent traffic ;P )
either it doesnt work the documented way..or i just dont know how to make them work...mostly the later..when was the last time cisco was wrong?? ;P joel.
