could you not try MAD with the two different data sets? Otherwise you can check the strength of the anomalous signal for both sets separately (I am sure pointless prints the anomalous CC over resolution shell) and after merging them. If the signal increases, use the merged data set for SAD, it it does not, use them separately (but then you call it MAD...).
