The installation of the X servers package includes a post-installation script. One of the tasks of that script is to read the current console and set up /etc/ttys with the correct X server invocation. If you installed with a serial console, that wouldn't have given you an X entry in /etc/ttys. You can find the script (*.scp) in /usr/etc/products and run it (actually I forget if it relies on internal state of setld or not -- I think it might in which case running it won't work), or just reinstall the package. Or if you feel up to it, you can extract the X server entry from the script and add it to /etc/ttys yourself. There may be a microcode load task for PMAG-J too, dunno. I think what I'd do is just reinstall the 24-bit X servers package. ok bear. -- until further notice
