*lol* yeah i get a bit wordy at times

 yes.

hmmm... much as i'd like to be the one to do that, having researched
it for quite a while, i think it best if i take a step back on that
one, but... yeah if anyone _does_ want to begin, independently, you
really only have to look here:

  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PowerVR_products#Series5_.28SGX.29

and it becomes blindingly "holy-crap" obvious that it's a big deal,
even when there are more and more ARM and MIPS CPUs, really really
_good_ ones, popping out the woodwork on an almost bi-weekly basis,
now.

then, you just do a search "free software SGX driver" and you get,
once you have sifted through the confusion over the "shim" kernel
driver
"what-do-you-mean-it's-obviously-free-software-there's-a-GPL-linux-kernel-driver-what-are-you-talking-about-fool"
misunderstandings, you find that there are actually a hell of a lot of
people who want a *true* free software PowerVR SGX library.

i won't mention specific products or sites, from now on - i'll let
other people work on the page and the proposal.

l.

p.s. cc'ing dr richard stallman in order to alert him to this
discussion, and to the proposal, because the FSF now has PowerVR SGX
as a high-priority project, and so the FSF is acutely aware of the
need to get this project kick-started.

p.p.s richard: the elinux.org wiki site's content is licensed under
the GNU FDL, and elinux.org itself is running MediaWiki. so, it's
safe for you to view and edit it, should you so wish *grin* :)
