Vicente Calibo De Jesus 9:20am Sep 4 In line with Linggoy Alcuaz' thinking, I will bring my own trash bag. At the Million People March my wife did her part by picking up trash and putting it in a red bag then dumping this in waste bins provided by the Park administration. See the photo Junep Ocampo 9:13am Sep 4 The vigil Sir is not a traditional vigil. It is a vigil that can and will be replicated in churches, schools, offices and homes. We will have a candle vigil that will be touring around. And we will provide a vigil guide that will include basic info about pork barrel and an interfaith prayer for pork barrel's abolition. EDSA TAYO, in that sense, will continue beyond Sept. 11 since people will now own the campaign. As to the Shrine, Fr. Nilo Mangussad, rector of the Shrine, has volunteered the place to host the candle vigil for the first week. There will be a 1-hour reflection about pork barrel to be held there every day for 1 week from 6 to 7pm. Junep Ocampo 9:09am Sep 4 Hi Sir Linggoy. Good morning. I met with MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino yesterday before lunch to discuss traffic management plans for Sept. 11. Last night, I met with PDir. Marcelo Garbo, director of National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). He just needs the overall estimate of the size of the crowd to finalize security plans for the event. Our event coordinator now is now applying for a permit with Mayor Herbert Bautista (Quezon City has jurisdiction over the Shrine). We will do our best to make this as peaceful, orderly and as memorable as the Million People March which we all supported. Maraming salamat po sa interest sa EDSA TAYO. God bless po. Bañares Rodel 9:06am Sep 4 hahahahah Louella kumusta na? :) kitakits sept. 11? View All Comments Original Post Linggoy Alcuaz 11:56pm Sep 3 Hi Rodel and company, Have you applied for a permit from the LGU with jurisdiction over the surroundings of the EDSA Shrine? Unlike the Luneta which is under the National Parks something ... , EDSA Shrine is owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. During GMA's Admin, Mandaluyong City would reject and the Mandaluyong PNP as well as its superior the EPD would recommend the rejection of applications for permits to march, picket or rally using the EDSA Shrine's opposition to such activities as their excuse. However, I was twice able to get permits from Quezon City between 2005 and 2007. I met MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino at a birthday party last Saturday night. The host, Ferdie advised him not to be negative to the rally. However, he was shocked when I advised him that my impression from listening to an interview with the initiator on ABS CBN's DZMM Teleradyo, was that the rally would continue until pork, possibly all pork, was scrapped. In February 1986, up to Friday, Feb 24, I was able to get a vigil permit covering multiple organizations for the People Power Monument. Fr. Robert Reyes's group had held a multi month vigil there. However, I understand that applications have to cleared first with the EDSA Commission. I went to the Monday, Aug 26 Million March with my family and friends. My contribution was walis ting tings and trash bags for those interested in cleaning up. I'm offering you a dozen of this and trash bags with the intention of keeping my city clean and maintaining the good impression created last Aug 26 regarding discipline and cleanliness. Our Alcuaz family will try to come in spite its being a weekday and working day. Vty & Tks V M! Jose Luis "Linggoy" A. Whether the million refers to signatures or warm bodies, be careful. Never mind if you are fewer than a million or a thousand, just keep on. Be careful that your noise barrage does not get compared with that of April 6, 1978. A vigil gets a lenghtier media coverage than a usual rally. It is more difficult to educate with a big but short rally.
