Something important has happened in America and is still happening. Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump are the symptoms. Not the usual kind of symptoms because the word "symptoms" denotes something that is not generally desirable. What is happening in America is a negative development with a positive result. It's close to the Chinese concept of crisis, which is "opportunity riding on the crest of a dangerous wind."
Foremost among the symptoms is the Bernie Sanders campaign for president. To a limited extent, it is also Donald Trump. And Dr. Ben Carson. And Carly Fiorina.
