what amazes me is it always becomes a priority only when they are no longer
majority .. even then they passed Obama care w/o reading it ... as Pelosi said,
you have to pass it so you can find out what is in it ... they could have
passed all the legislations they wanted then ... including gun control ... oh

I read that Obama had to prioritize what he would "spend" his political capital
on in his first term. Obviously gun control was not high on the list. The
economy was, Health Care was, I think the 2 on going wars were also on the
priority list. To spread his "capital" to thin would likely generate no wins
and a whole bunch of losses. That is politics for ya.

chay ... for me no need to say another word ... republicans have no more common
sense on the 2nd amendment ...
on the other hand, Obama in his first term did not do anything about this and
other issues when he had a super majority of congress ... and now that
republicans have control, he does the blame game ...

Guys,
If Mateen had not been able to buy an AR-15 despite the fact that he had been
on the FBI list of possible terrorists, he probably would not have been able to
commit the massacre. Could he have borrowed from others? Yeah, but the
probability that someone would tip the authorities would have been high.
If some people are indeed crazy, count among them the Republicans in Congress
and in the Senate. The American people overwhelmingly - I repeat,
overwhelmingly - support making it nearly impossible for people on the no-fly
lists to buy guns, not just assault-type weapons (Hillary calls them weapons of
war), but the Republicans would not support such a bill in Congress. Just
yesterday, the Republicans in the Senate blocked 4 bills that were intended to
make it exceedingly hard for the terrorists, crazies and hot-tempered people
from buying guns. All 4 bills were defeated.
Why do the Republicans oppose those common-sense bills (hear this, Cholo)?
Because the NRA (National Rifle Association) opposes any new law that restricts
the right of people to buy and own guns. And the Republicans are terrified of
the NRA, which finances a lot of their campaigns. Follow the money, indeed.
Something as common-sensical as making sure that terrorists, the crazies and
the violent-tempered in society cannot own guns, especial assault weapons,
can't pass in our Congress.
The Republicans claim that what they want is to make sure that nobody's
constitutional right to own guns is infringed. They claim that the mere
suspicion that someone is a terrorist, a crazy, a violent person should not be
enough justification because there must be due process, which means that the
government must go to the courts before restricting anyone's right to own guns.
Can you imagine how difficult it would be to police such a system? A
terrorist would only need a lawyer to hamstring the police. A terrorist would
still be able to buy guns while his case is being adjudicated!
Fact is, people are being placed in no-fly lists on mere suspicion. People are
being denied the right to get on planes on mere suspicion. Since the U.S.
adopted its new policy of denying suspected terrorists the right to get on
airplanes, how many terrorists were able to blow up a plane?
Since 2001, none were successful in America. And nobody complains about due
process. The fact is, the no-fly list has been successful and we only need to
use the list to prevent would-be terrorists from buying guns.
If I were in the U.S. Congress or in the U.S. Senate, I would sponsor a bill
that makes all sales of firearms between and among private individuals subject
to tax and therefore must be reported to the government.
So Boy, why am I a Democrat and why do I stubbornly maintain that the
Democratic Party is the good guys party and the Republican Party is the bad
guys party? It's because of issues like gun control.
It's because of issues like making sure the Social Security System is properly
funded. The Democrats favor Social Security reform, the Republicans want to
privatize Social Security.
It's because of issues like taxing the rich to help the poor, which the
Democrats favor and which the Republicans oppose.
It's because of issues like free tuition in state universities, universal
health care, equal pay for equal work, $15 minimum wage, making sure that no
more jobs are exported to China and Mexico. The Democrats are for all of the
above and then some, the Republicans oppose them all.
Look at the record, Boy. The Republicans oppose all these proposals because
what they would mean is that the rich and the corporations will have to pay
more in taxes. This despite the fact that the rich in America have become
very, very rich while middle class income has been stuck in neutral in real
terms since the 1970s.
The American people are fed up with the Republicans, Boy. And Bangkaw. That
is why the Republicans, with Trump at the head of their party now, are in
danger of losing both houses of Congress along with the presidency this
November. And they could lose some governorships and state legislatures as
well.

What is presumptuous is all this philosophizing or analyzing by arm-chair

It is becoming more & more obvious as more & more biographical narratives are
coming out in the media that reveal Mateen to be simply an unbalanced & unglued

As someone who believes in the Christian ideology, you are rather presumptuous
in describing the dynamics of the Islamic faith in general and the mind and
motive of Mateen in particular. How do you know Mateen was motivated to kill 49
people as atonement for his "sin"? Define sin. Explain why homosexuality is a
sin. And prove redemption through murder was Mateen's motive. Jihad is too pat
as a motive especially when emphasized by anti-Islam western media.
Homosexuality is certainly condemned by Islamic fundamentalists, as much as by
Christian Talibans like Manny Pacquiao. Threat of exposure as a Muslim homo is
a means of turning some Muslims into informants/spies as Israel does in
Palestine. It is also a powerful form of blackmail for the FBI to force
unstable people like Mateen to commit a false flag atrocity like murdering 49
people. Then silence him quickly and forever. For what purpose? U.S. media have
provided strong hints about the false flag motive. By emphasizing that Mateen
was influenced radically by Islamic ideology via the Internet. Control of
social media by Wall Street's 0.1% criminals is the ultimate end. What better
way to achieve this than by blackmailing a hated Muslim "enemy" to murder
members of a despised underclass (gays, lesbians, transgenders) and then speak
for the slain assassin that he was motivated by radical Islam via the Internet.
If you believe this is farfetched, then you must believe the FBI does not
blackmail and murder people like Martin Luther King, and Fred Hampton of the
Black Panthers. And that Israel's Mossad strictly observes international law in
its secret operations. Or that Prince Charles is qualified for sainthood. Where
are those marines when you need them?

I HAVE A DIFFEENT PERSPECTIVE about the Orlando Massacre.
Yes, the act has something to do with Islam; but, it is an act of one Islam
follower who is torn between his Islam beliefs and his sexual orientation.
In Islam faith, being homosexual, according to their beliefs, it is a gross
violation of Allah's will or command. He or she who is a homosexual is going to
Hell.
But if an Islam follower commits Jihad, regardless of litany of vices and sins
he or she committed in his or her earthly life, they shall enjoy life in
Paradise.
Mateen (sp?) is an Islam follower; but, he is a homosexual. If my info is
correct, the perpetrator used to frequent the night club for years and party
with his fellow members in the Lesbian and Gay Community.
But because of the warring conflict in his mind and the religious teachings he
received, he struggled how he is going to Paradise after his earthly life is
over. To redeem himself from his homosexual lifestyle, Mateen, chose to commit
Jihad.
To conclude this post, let me comment what makes biblical Christian faith
distinct from Islam belief.
Christianity teaches grace and forgiveness. The Scriptures do not condemn
homosexuals. What is condemned, is: homosexual acts. It is unnatural for a man
to engage in sexual acts with another man or a woman with another woman. The
penis is designed to be embraced by a woman's vagina.
Sexual Sins - illicit sexual intercourse between man and woman that is frowned
in the Scriptures, is as sinful as the homosexual acts perpetrated by Lesbians
and Gay people. But, homosexual Christians need not resort to killing fellow
gay or lesbian churchgoers to redeem them from their sinful lifestyle.
Homosexuals or heterosexuals alike to be forgiven simply need to appropriate
God's grace and forgiveness and turn away from sinful lifestyle.
In Islam faith, there is no such thing as forgiveness?

Subject: Re: What to do about Orlando Danding, Cesar L, I think the term we are
talking about is "Radical Islam", to clarify so we could understand each other,
it is Extremist Islam, and to go further, it's Islam practiced in the days of
Muhammad. So many of the followers of Islam, so many of whom have nothing much
to lose, and many genuine Muslim Fundamentalist including the educated ones,
would like to go back to their roots. Nothing is wrong with that wish, if they
like to practice it among themselves, in the days of Muhammad, they didn't know
any better, many Christians would like to do the same. Unfortunately, for both,
time had moved on, progressed or mutated to what we have now, and beliefs of
seemingly eons ago are now not valid, the genie in the bottle had flown the
coop, having granted the three wishes, we couldn't put him back. Two great
religions, whose roots are almost the exact opposites in their means of
propagating their faith, the Prophet Mohammad and Jesus Christ, two of the most
diverse individuals, who walked the face of the earth. One whose roots is borne
of persecution and violence and the other grew from persecution to sacrifice
and persuasion, later on the two collided in violence of crusades and counter
crusades (Jihads), in an active effort to convert others, and control
territories in the Holy Land, resulting in the two being the more dominant
religions of the world. Yet the two parted in their means of propagation and
direction, after the 13th century, the Christians from Europe went to the
Americas, the Muslims remained in the Middle East and spread to Southeast Asia.
Christianity vs Islam: Chart of Similarities and Differences

might ask, is the above relevant to the thread and why I posted it. Maybe we
could understand and address the issue instead of talking past each other. You
have the habit of taking a phrase, sentence or paragraph and ignoring the
context of what and why they were made, like the one below. Islamic Terrorism.
Donald Trump is upset about Obama’s failure to use this phrase. He suggests
Orlando happened because Obama has consistently refused to use it. Trump fails
the reality test. Orlando did not happen because of Islamic terrorism.
Orlando happened because of American terrorism. A terrorism in a scale so vast
these days that it has torn apart the entire Middle East into an ungovernable
cauldron of hatred and revenge...Danding Not only Trump, but majority of the
American people are asking the same question and unlike Obama & Hillary, who
would rather hide their head under the sand and deal with it by ignoring it as
another jayvee team, they want answers. Of course calling it like it is is just
part of the solution, if you can't even call it, then you are ignoring it. Is
it because Obama himself has no clue and wouldn't take advise from the very
people he put in to handle the job? Here is a disconnect, Obama praising his
efforts and the progress he had made in the fight against ISIS and the CIA
Chief more glum in his assessments. Adherents from both sides of the aisles
espousing those views, you and Cesar L, defending the Presidents assessments
and the Republicans and its adherents, the CIA Director.

gave a glowing praise of his accomplishments in the battle against ISIS, in
Iraq, ignoring the rest of the world, a make happy scenario, Brennan, a glum
description of the war against ISIS in the world view. By claiming progress in
the battle with ISIS, (In Iraq), he unwittingly showed the fallacy of the way
he is conducting the war against ISIS and Radical Islam. In an effort to give
himself a medal, he showed how ISIS could be defeated, by using the resources
the US and its allies have. It needs commitment to accomplish it, not speeches
and oratory. Danding, you made another tunnel view, USA, the Evil Empire
conveniently forgetting the rest of history, the reason for the original shock
and awe in Kuwait and Iraq and pretended as if the Middle East is a place in
heaven, before then. The Middle East is a cauldron of sectarian violence for
centuries, Muslims against Muslims going back to the days after Muhammad's
death, going along the lines of who should succeed him. While the Iran Iraq War
maybe over territory and oil, sectarian conflicts fed it, Shia Iran and Sunni
controlled Iraq. How many died? If I were you Danding, I would say millions as
valid as your million Iraqis killed in the shock and awe. Cesar L, nice try
in trying to transform Hillary into something she is not, as Obama have alluded
to, you can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. Let's put it this way,
Chay, Hillary tried to be a co-president and fell flat on her face, so please,
enough of this. She is piggybacking on her husband's accomplishments, because
she hasn't done much of anything. A feminist, a champion for women and here she
is treading on her husband's name. What does that say about her qualifications
as a women's advocate? You are confusing as an accomplishment, speaking in a
world forum for women, what exactly came out of that forum, that she had a hand
in formulating. What concrete accomplishment came out of it??? Did it stop the
Muslim's violence on women? Did the Muslim countries enact any laws to stop
violence on women?? As for Hillary being involved in the hunt for Bin Laden,
it is as valid as her account of being shot at in Bosnia, She couldn't even
find her billing files in her office, nor finding Email requests for better
security in in the American compounds in Libya. Cesar, what an indictment for a
Secretary of State when the main accomplishment you could cite is logging
millions of miles around the world, to prevent nations from blaming the US for
the Arab spring, and failing at that, with traditional allies uniformly blame
the US for the deterioration of the conditions in the Middle East. Aside from
alienating our allies, our enemies now hate us more. Oh Cesar, enough of
putting rouge and lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig!! Cesar, I didn't even
touch on the pay to play Clinton Foundation. Being from New Jersey, you should
be aware of that political scandal. With regards to why I used Black Lives
Matter, it is not about racism, you missed the point again!! I used it to
highlight how the police and law enforcement officers are hampered by political
correctness and laws that hamper their ability to prevent crimes. That happened
in Orlando. As I wrote, you can't write laws and expect the problem to
disappear, it needs enforcement, and personnel willing to do the job. Sorry
Chay, I will give you an E for effort for the cause, and for you to swallow an
Obama pill on ISIS shows you how your grip on reality had been clouded by your
political hat. ....HMC
