Not quite true as icq has no prefix which makes it a bit more difficult to
isolate. Or at least on my machine it doesn't but mine still uses the
.centericq directory as I upgraded from there.

Well what would be the benefits of that? now every contact's directory
is prefixed with the letter of the protocol.

Hi there,
Every time I list the .centerim directory I think about how confuse it is.
So, I want to suggest a new structure:
$HOME/.centerim/contacts/icq/UIN
$HOME/.centerim/contacts/jab/nickname
$HOME/.centerim/contacts/yahoo/nickname
$HOME/.centerim/contacts/msn/nickname
...
$HOME/.centerim/log
$HOME/.centerim/config
$HOME/.centerim/groups
...
I could try to implement it, but someone who knows better the code than
me could do it so much easy... :)
What do you think?
